MEDICINE and SURGERY :
Deal with the structure of human body (anatomy) functions (physiology) metabolic activities (biochemistry) of human body. This enables them to treat any malfunction through drugs and surgical procedures. They also have the basic knowledge of all other medical field.
DENTISTRY:
Is a branch of medicine that is involved in the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and functions of the oral mucosa, and of adjacent and related structures and tissues, particularly in the maxillofacial (jaw and facial) area.
MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE:
(MLS) (also reffered to as a clinical laboratory scientist (Honors) or medical laboratory technologist (old name for simple Bsc degree holder) is a pathology based healthcare professional who performs complex chemical, hemathological, immunologic, histopathologic, cytopathological, microscopic, and bacterial logical diagnostic analyses on body fluids such as urine, sputum,blood, stool, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), peritonial fluid, pericardial fluid and synovial fluid as well as other specimens. Medical laboratory scientist work in clinical laboratories as at hospitals, physician's offices, reference labs, biotechnology labs and non-clinical industrial labs.
NURSING:
Is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities and populations.
PHARMACY:
Deals with the study of drugs, manufacture of drugs and sales with dispensary of such drugs. This I termed second best (but not in Nigeria) with branches in pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry.
OPTOMETRY:
Is a health care profession concern with the eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans. Optometrist are trained to prescribe and fit lenses to improve vision, and in some countries are trained to diagnose and treat various eye diseases.
PHTSIOTHERAPHY :
Help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.
They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent desease.
The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long sa as possible.
RADIOGRAPHY/RADIOLOGY :
Is the branch of medicine that deals with diagnostic images of anatomical structures through the use of electro magnetic radiation or sound waves and treats disease through the use of radioactive compounds. Radiographic imaging techniques or modalities include x-rays, CAT scan, PET scans, MRIs, and ultrasonograms.
Radiographers also are concern with oncology and radiotherapy. Oncology is a branch of medicine or radiography that deals with tumors, including study of their development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
While Radiotherapy is the therapeutic use of ionising radiation, almost exclusively used for the treatment of malignant disease eg cancer (breast cancer, brain cancer and other tissue cancer).
VETERINARY MEDICINE :
Is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, disorder and injury in non-humans animals. The scope of veterinary medicine is wide, covering all animal species, both domestic and wild, with a wide range of conditions which can different species.
